Canine Cystatin C (CYC)
Advantages:
Innovative quantitative immunofluorescent reader
Accurate quantitative results in 10 minutes
Early detection of kidney failure at 25% dysfunction of kidney
Disease background
1: According to researches, more than 1/10 of canine get kidney failure. Creatinine, the traditional marker drops with muscle reduction. Before the increase of Creatinine, 75% of renal tissue is already dysfunctional. Blood CYC concentration changes along with glomerular filtration (GFR). It is a direct indicator of GFR, and it is not affected by gender, inflammation, tumor, etc. CYC level is more sensitive than Creatinine. It increases at an early stage of kidney failure when the damage is at 25%. Hence it is the most sensitive marker for kidney function.
2: Symptoms of kidney failure: Polyuria, weight loss, lack of appetite, depressing, messy hair, vomiting, diarrhea, Halitosis
Clinical Application
1: early prevention and diagnosis of CKD
2: diagnosis of renal disease
3: checking kidney function before anesthesia
4: evaluating when other diseases might impact kidney function
5: biochemical evaluation of kidney failure
